Pure mountain air, great and beautiful views, relaxing, mountain lakes and cliff walks. Oh and a lot of Bollywood movies

The "Berner Oberland" never disappoints! It's actually one of my favourite regions here in Switzerland and I just can't get enough of it.

Okay to be fair, there's a lot of regions I can't get enough of here 😄 But the Grindelwald region is a classic.

This hike was one of the easier ones I've done in summer 2020 but you might consider it as challenging if it's your first hike.

🚌 We initially wanted to do a different route but we missed the bus by 2 minutes. Although you can basically reach all parts of Switzerland by public transport, some destinations are only reached a couple of times a day.

So we then took the bus from Grindelwald to Bussalp. The drive takes about 35 minutes but make sure to check the timings because there, as well, are only a few busses a day. And don't miss it 😉

🥾 Thanks to Switzerland’s connectivity when it comes to hiking, everything is pretty much indicated so we only had to follow the signs. This time, we followed the signs to Bachalpsee.

⛰️ The hike is very scenic, sometimes kinda steep and rocky, other times it's an easy walk over grassy lands. It takes you about 2 - 2.5 hours to reach Bachalpsee, depending on your pace and breaks. We brought a picnic and some snacks with us and enjoyed our lunch with a beautiful view over the valley. 🥪

💦 Once we reached the lake Bachalpsee, some of us took a quick power nap and the others put their feet into the very clean and refreshing lake! You might even consider a swim there, would be so worth it 😃

By the way, it's no secret that Switzerland is the number one destination when it comes to filming Bollywood movies with gorgeous backdrops. And therefore no wonder that Indians play a big role in our economy, especially in tourism. ✈️

I fell in love with Bollywood since I was about 10 years old. The colours, songs, people and the culture all around it fascinated me, still do so today! And even though it's obviously staged, it's all true at the same time. Okay, so people don't go around singing in India's streets 😄 (maybe they do though?) but being in India a few years back just reinforced everything. 😍

And while I love Bollywood out of different reasons, Indians love Switzerland for the same reasons I do. It's simply drop dead gorgeous and beautiful, basically shoot ready wherever you look 📷

Okay back to the hike!

🚡 The last part over to Grindelwald-First, or just simply First, was pretty much straight and even. The views over the valley are absolutely stunning and the cliff walk just left us awed. We got some refreshments in the restaurant there and were just grateful to admire the scenery.

I then took the cable car down because I had work the next day but my family stayed up and slept over in one of the huts. It's very easy to connect other destinations in this valley with the other. There's so much to see and admire and one day would never be enough! 😉

Here's just a few other spots that you can add or connect with your trip:

- Fulhorn

- Schynige Platte

- Grosse Scheidegg

- Rosenlaui

- Gleksteinhütte

And that's all on the same side of the valley, don't get me started on the other side...

Sabbu ❤️
